I can’t say enough about Catie and Phil!  They’re down to earth and one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever met.  Their wedding day was an absolute breeze to shoot, despite the pouring rain the morning of.  Phil got ready at the beautiful Riverwynde Bed and Breakfast in Kensington while Catie got ready at Reader’s Garden Cafe.  Both locations worked beautifully for getting ready shots.  The character from each location made for some beautiful photos!
One of my favourite pieces from Catie and Phil’s wedding were their beautiful wedding bands. Â They’re made by a company called Do Amore. Â Their rings are made from all recycled metals with conflict free diamonds. Â In addition, they also build a well from two people in a developing country every time one of their rings are purchased. Â Also, a cool note about Catie’s engagement ring – the main diamond is a family heirloom that was brought over from Austria before World War II!
Another cool little tidbit from their wedding? Â They rented a Car-2-Go for their transportation! Â Not only are they an eco-friendly company, but they’re incredibly cheap to rent!
It was our five year anniversary and there also happened to be a partial solar eclipse on the same day. We watched the eclipse from our favorite dog park with our goofy solar glasses, and when the eclipse hit its peak, Phil popped the question.
We didn’t plan on having many decorations for the ceremony at Reader Rock Garden, as the natural beauty of the garden was great on its own. We walked down the aisle together, and when we turned the corner we discovered that our families had decorated the alter beyond our expectations. It was a wonderful surprise.
Keep it simple! Don’t get caught up in all the little details. You don’t need the perfect Pinterest wedding. You will thank yourself on the day for having only a few things to organize.
