Nathalie and Dale are just the sweetest. I met them at a coffee shop in the NW only to find out that we’re practically neighbours! This outdoorsy couple wanted to do their engagement session in Canmore, which has become a second home to me with how much I’m out there. Needless to say, I was so happy to leave the city behind and get some fresh air out in nature! I had such a blast with Nathalie and Dale at their engagement session. Their wedding can’t come soon enough!
How did you and your fiancé meet?
Dale and I met when we both joined a recreational ball hockey team. We have mutual friends who were looking for people to play on their team and we both happened to join up. Dale played hockey growing up so was looking for an avenue to get back into the sport, and I never grew up playing team sports so was excited to finally learn how to play.
Dale and I clicked from the very beginning, same age, similar interests… it was easy to get to know each other at team events and playing together each week. (You can really tell what a person is like based on how they act / react playing sports). But it wasn’t until later that we started hanging out on our own, becoming really good friends, before finally deciding it was worth risking the friendship and taking a chance on something bigger and better. A decision that I have never regretted, as now I am marrying my best friend!!
What are you most looking forward to on your wedding day (aside from marrying your spouse)?
Nathalie: I am most looking forward to seeing Dale’s expression when he sees me for the first time that day. The love I know that will be obvious in his eyes. (Second is enjoying a party with my friends and family)
Dale: Seeing my new wife looking beautiful and happy! Knowing that it is the beginning of our journey together as husband and wife.
Tell us a little bit about your wedding!
We are getting married in Calgary on August 12th. Outdoor ceremony, indoor reception, with our close family and friends to help us celebrate. It’s going to be fairly casual and fun, with a little vintage country feel to it.
What’s been the most fun process of planning your wedding so far?
The most fun process has been seeing other people’s ideas and then incorporating ones that work for us. Coming up with a thought and then discussing together, before coming to a final plan. We are truly planning this together, and it feels like the wedding showcases both our personalities.
