I shot Larissa and Tyler’s engagement session in Canmore last year and knew that if I had that much fun with them at their engagement session, then their wedding would be a piece of cake – and it truly was.  Their wedding was one of my more longer ones this year, and it felt as if I’d shown up for Larissa’s prep shots, blinked, and it was the end of the night.  My cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling so much.  Their wedding was just so relaxed and perfect!

      How did you get engaged?

We got engaged on the 9th green at Fox Hollow after we played a round of golf with our siblings and friends. We love to golf together and it was a total surprise. Tyler had a beautiful song playing in the background while others took photos of our moment. He prepared a speech that he memorized and had our parents meet us on the green as well. We all toasted to our exciting news with champagne and continued the celebration at the first outdoor country music festival in Calgary (Country Thunder) with more friends! It was perfect!

What is the most memorable moment from your wedding?

We loved so much about our wedding, it is hard to narrow it down. The ceremony definitely stands out… seeing one another for the first time and the first kiss of course! Our best man and maid of honor did an incredible dance for us which was definitely a highlight as well!

If you could give one piece of advice to couples planning their wedding, what would it be?
Our best tips would be to enjoy the process from start to finish. Identify what it is that really matters to you for your day, and don’t get caught up with little things. We said that we wanted to look and feel good, get a couple great photos (which is inevitable with Stephanie capturing the day) and for everyone to have a blast! We truly enjoyed our wedding from the engagement onward, and we wish that for every couple!

On your wedding day, be consciously present. We had received this advice the night before and we are so grateful. The day is busy and it is easy to go with the flow and it can all become a blur. Wiggle your toes during your vows, look up at your guests after signing your marriage license and very intentionally give your honey a smooch during the first dance. It will be one of the happiest days of your life, so enjoy every second!

What was your most favourite wedding detail, and why?

Unintentionally, our wedding turned into a simple elegance theme, and we loved how the venues came together. Larissa loved her blue flower broach that her twin sister (and maid of honor) brought back from Portugal for her something blue. We are going to Portugal as the last stop on our honeymoon, and plan to pass the broach on to those taking the next step in their relationship.
