Ashley and Josh were so incredible to work with.  After they’d booked me, we planned their engagement session and headed off to the mountains!  I’d never spent so much time laughing during a session.  They’re both incredibly funny and down to earth.  It made my job such a breeze.  Needless to say, when their wedding day came, I was so excited to see them again.  Sure enough, their wedding went just as I’d predicted – amazing people, amazing food and lots of fun!

      How did you get engaged?

Josh had plans to go away to the mountains (Radium) for the weekend, but Ashley had other plans to go to her friend’s (Maid of Honour) birthday. So instead we made a day trip to Banff to go mountain biking on the first trail we biked on together. Josh stopped at the perfect lookout point, over looking the hoodoos (which you can see while driving on highway 1 going out to Banff). Josh with a “perfectly good speech” was at a loss for words and asked not once or twice, but three times “if we made a good team?” In which case Ashley said “yes” three times and after said, “why are you being so weird?” Then Josh popped the question and Ashley said yes. Afterwards, we biked back; just before the rain clouds came in and made our way back to Calgary for the birthday party.

What is the most memorable moment from your wedding?

Josh: When Ashley put the ring on my finger because she was being all goofy and was wiggling it on back and forth as I was trying not to screw up the words.

Ashley: When Josh and I had to replicate a kiss from our bridal party. It was the one where Mike and Tasha were dancing, than Mike flipped Tasha as they were dancing, and dipped her as they kissed. We managed to do the stunt… but only with a little help from Mike.

If you could give one piece of advice to couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

Josh: Don’t procrastinate; this could help prevent unexpected hiccups.

Ashley: Stay organized and meet the deadlines you set out.

What was your most favourite wedding detail, and why?

Our party favours (succulents), because they also doubled as decoration on the table.
