Jody and Nick had the most incredible wedding.  These world travellers had a theme that truly reflected them as a whole, and took place at The Hangar Flight Museum here in Calgary.  The venue was put together beautifully by the talented Amanda and her team at Calgary Wedding Planning Co.

It was such an honour not only getting to capture their beautiful wedding day, but to also meet and spend time with two of the most genuine, down to earth people I’ve ever met!  Before their ceremony at Baker Park, Jody met Nick in Canmore for their first look, where we then loaded up with delicious food and drinks at the Iron Goat, then headed to the trails for some beautiful mountain scenery for their portraits. From there we headed to the Flight Museum to end off their special day with all their family and friends!

      How did you get engaged?

It was a few weeks into a 2 month backpacking adventure across South America. After a very early morning hike, Nick found a quiet moment on a mountain top in Peru. It was magical!

What is the most memorable moment from your wedding?

We did our photos before the wedding so hitting the outdoor patio at the Iron Goat in Canmore for beer and pizza halfway through the afternoon wasn’t just practical, it was a great time to relax just with our wedding party and share one of our most favourite warm weather activities together. Getting ready was so busy, and the ceremony and dinner have so many other things that you focus on, it was really nice just to have a drink and relax and laugh with our closest friends.

If you could give one piece of advice to couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

It’s your wedding, do what makes YOU happy. For us, that meant good food, a good band and hiring a planner to take off a ton of the pressure. We’ve had so many people comment how relaxed and fun and *us* the wedding was, and I think a big part of that was not paying attention to what we ‘had’ to do, and more on what really reflected us.

What was your most favourite wedding detail, and why?

How do we pick just one! The biggest one that tied everything together was probably our reception venue, the Aerospace Museum of Calgary. We’re both big travel addicts, and we really wanted a “vintage travel” feeling. The old classic planes were absolutely stunning, and really tied the eclectic feeling of the night together. Though I’m also pretty partial to our globe guest book, it fits us perfectly!
