As a Calgary wedding photographer, it’s hard to find time for yourself outside of work to help you create and just shoot for yourself. I believe it’s absolutely necessary for your sanity to step outside your comfort zone and create a session just for you. It gives you a chance to slow down and capture a session just as you envisioned it.
We planned this session later on in the evening. I like to plan sessions around two hours prior to sunset to avoid the harsh summer sun. Shooting too early in the day can cast some pretty unflattering shadows depending on the sun. That warm summer glow helped make the greenery pop. It really helped set the ambiance at the beginning of the session. After shooting atop of the hill, we made our way down to where the dunes were. This provided us a bit of open shade as well as a dramatic change of scenery. It also helped alleviate the wind and mosquito situation that was happening.
It was so much fun creating this “green” session. I’m so grateful to all the amazing ladies who helped me put this together. It’s always such a treat working with talented wedding industry people! I couldn’t have done it without them.
